I pretty much induced myself because as long as I would walk my contractions were areound 3-5 min apart, but once I stoped they stoped but I went to the hospital cause Bragg said he would help me along I had dialted more 2.5top a 3 then he broke my water so pretty much I was induced, and I ended up with a C-Section I blame myself for it and I wish I would have been more patient. Here is the thing hospitals put you on the clock the minute you get there if you haven't had the kid by 24 hours of bein there they like to push it along which can lead to a C-Section because by their "clock you aren't prgressing enough". I understand some people need to be induced and do fine with it but others don't and I would like to think more don't than do. I think if you can wait wait inducing doesn't always end up in the desired result which is out the vagina not the abdomen. Hope that helped you make up your mind one way or the other.

Sorry, but I had to have a c-section with my first and because we live in a small town, my second was a repeat c-section.

I do have some friends who were induced and it went well. The medication that they use to induce with makes you have some painful contractions (so I've heard) so get an epidural if you want one.

I've been induced twice. Don't worry about a thing, it is actually really nice. If you are going to get an epiduryl (sp) they can put it in before they start the pitocin and you can just sleep your way through labor. It is going to be great, you will love it. Good luckD!

I have been induced with both of my girls. I wouldn't have it any other way.
If they use the folley (sp?) cath, make sure that they explain what they are doing. With Alli, they didn't explain anything, and it hurt. Maggie they explained everything and it was fine.

Seriously... if you get your epidural before the contractions get bad, you get some GOOD SLEEP before that baby comes :)

Good luCK! Let me know if you need anything Jane!
I'm excited for you :)

(remember, I'll come and bring you food at the hospital if you want it...)

Hey! Yeah, there can be complications with getting induced, but for the majority of women, everything goes totally fine. The reason they like to make sure you have the baby after 24 hours after induction is because if your water breaks, the chance for infection and distress in the baby increases. So that's why some women have to get C-sections if the pitocin doesn't kick in. And induction isn't necessarily a bad thing if it ends in a C-section. You don't want to go too late and have the baby get too big. That can be dangerous for both you and the baby. I think that as long as you feel you do what's best for the baby, you won't regret anything. I don't work in Labor and Delivery, but if you have any more questions, I'll help you out as much as I can. I hear that induction can be a wonderful thing, especially if you have some nice drugs. Try not to worry too much about it although I know that can be impossible! I'm excited for you!! Let me know if you need anything.

I know that there are a couple of different ways to be induced and some work for some people and other methods work for others! They usually get your cervixs going the night before so when they give you the pitossin everything is ready to go! I hope everything goes well and you and the baby come out healthy and happy!!
